Perhaps no place is more suggestive of poet Lord Byron’s famous line, ‘to me, high mountains are a feeling.’ Situated at the base of the Grand Teton Mountains in Northwestern Wyoming, Jackson Hole – named for the sensation pioneering early fur trappers described while descending into the valley (as if into a ‘hole’) – is an umbrella term for the mountain-hugged area that includes the main town Jackson and surrounding communities Wilson, Teton Village, Moran Junction, Hoback, Moose and Kelly.
The year-round destination provides convenient access to America’s most awe-inspiring wonders, including Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, and the National Elk Refuge. Rendezvous Mountain – offering the most extreme ski terrain in North America – lures skiers and snowboarders from around the globe and is enjoyed via the Aerial Tram, which carries sightseers, hikers, and mountain bikers to the summit during summer months.
“One of my favorite things is taking the tram up Jackson Hole Mountain and then hiking down through wildflower-filled trails in the summer. The views of the Tetons are breathtaking, and it’s one of the best ways to experience the rugged beauty of Wyoming.”
